Man's tailcoat of tobacco-brown wool facecloth, with high turned-down collar with M-knotch lapels (right lapel part uncut), flapped hip pockets, four pairs gilt / brass buttons (marked 'fine standard 732' on reverse) to centre front opening (buttoning either way), cut-away fronts, seamed waist, pair similar buttons to centre back waist at pleated vent with another pair of similar buttons, weighting hemline of tails, plain sleeves with wrist openings fastened two pairs smaller gilt / brass buttons ('Extra Rich Quality), lined dark brown sateen quilted over interlining under arms. 1820 (circa)
