Summary
Evening dress - Black silk crepe georgette over black silk underdress. Bodice with square neckline and cut away armholes; front with attached triangular draped panel over bust and two attached truiangular cups of moulded red plastic and V-shaped bar of paste brilliants at corners of neckline; back inverted V-shape, with triple pintucked pleats to sides and central V-shaped panel closely pintucked. Double cap sleeves of overcast georgette. Skirt bais-cut and flared; with self-buttoned hook and press stud opening to back waist; triangular panel georgette draped in a loop from side waist; deep pleated panel to back trained hem. Attached top-stitched belt with clasp of pair moulded red plastic triangles and double V bar of paste brilliants (fastening point to point to form X) Nancy Bradfield's ref; D494 worn by Mrs Workman of Ebworth, mother of donor John Workman. 1934 (circa)
