Summary
White cotton satin striped dressing gown, the bodice and skirt in one, with low puffed tied back bustle and trained skirt. Two front patch pockets, the pockets, sleeves and centre front trimmed with broderie Angalise backed with ribbon in the fashionable grey lavender shade. The front fastened with mother-of-pearl buttons. Note; this form of dressing gown appeared c.1875-6 and could be worn at breakfast without corsets. From this the teagown emerged in 1877, worn only by married women. 1875 - 1876 (circa)
