Summary
Child's half mourning dress, wool and silk checked in grey and white with black velvet trim. Lined in white cotton. Bodice with scooped neckline and puff sleeves, both piped the sleeves are also trimmed in black velvet. Front and back bodice has gathering from the shoulders to the waistline, where it is ruched. Waistline is in natural position, straight and piped. Skirt is box pleated to waistband. Velvet ribbon ties at neck and waistline centre back, with hook and eye closing. This could have been a boy's due to lack of trim and box peating, although box pleating would be acceptable for both sexes after 1860. 1850 - 1860 (circa)
