Summary
Cream satin wedding gown; Wedding gown bodice - Bodice with low round neckline with attached wide collar of cream net with applique of machine point lace. Under collar of cream chiffon with gathered ruffle at edge. Full sleeves ruched at elbow, small flounce of satin below elbow with inner flounce of cream chiffon. Boned and lined with silk. Belt around waist which widens at the back. Back and front trimmed with applique strips of ruched fabric. Artificial bouquet at front neck fastening. Bodice waistband label 'Dore Gowns and lady's Taylor, Harrow'. 1906 (circa)
Provenance
wedding dress donated by Mrs Carter Jonas worn by her husbands mother, Miss Hilda Sarah Black at her wedding on 23rd January, 1906, to his father, the Rev Louis Carter Jonas at Harrow on the Hill.
