Summary
Rectangular needlework box burrwood (dark walnut) inlaid mother-of-pearl. Interior purple moire silk with rushed satin inside. Lid and envelope compartment inscribed; M.Hawks Contents mostly original. Contents of needlework box as follows; 6 bone flower thread winders, silver finger quard and thimble (Birmingham 1928), m-o-p waxer and matching tape measure, m-o-p handled penknife, threader, button hook, stiletto, tweezers and steel scissors, 2 steel bodkins and a crochet hook, 7 m-o-p reel holders, integral needlecase and pincushions, assorted buttons, beads, pins, floss silks, needles. 1870 (circa)
