Summary

Spinning Wheel - oak, treadle wheel. 1850 (circa)

Provenance

believed to have been made for a Mrs.Fraser, wife of the then .......? on the Arisaig Estate, Inverness-shire. Given to donors mother on Mrs Fraser's death in the 1920s. Wheel was used by donor's family for spinning and her mother was instrumental in teaching the women of Arisaig to spin in the 1930s because they had lost the art.
