Summary
An oak stick stand, English, 19th century, made from 17th century oak panelling or parts. Mounted with decorative iron straps. The front of two panels mounted with a painted shield (one the impaled arms of Throckmorton and Stapleton, referencing the marriage of Sir George Throckmorton, 6th Bt. (1754-1826) with Catherine Stapleton (1774-1839), the other the impaled arms of Throckmorton and Acton, referencing the 1829 marriage of Sir George Throckmorton, 8th Bt. (1800-62) and Elizabeth Acton (d. c. 1850)).
