One of four carved polychrome cartouches, mid-seventeenth-century, depicting the quarterings of the Yate family and their connections. Formerly at Harvington House, each with a different armorial, enclosed by foliage scrolls and fruit.
Full description
Sacheverell (top left) quartering others (not identified) for Henry Sacheverell whose daughter Abigail married Humphrey Pakington of Harvington. He was thus the grandfather of Mary, Lady Yate (see 135372.4) The other quarterings relate to earlier heiresses of the Sacheverell family distantly connected to the Yates and Throckmortons. As yet they are unidentified.
