Summary
Print, etching, Bristol Cathedral by Etching by Charles Brooke Bird (1856-1907). Signed by him in bottom right hand corner in pencil, with No. 17 in pencil below signature. Bottom left-hand side (imprinted) stamp SV surrounded by PRINTSELLERS' ASSOCIATION. In script, bottom centre, Published at 8 Clare Street, Bristol by Frost and Reed, printsellers of London and Bristol, January 1892, Copyright Registered. Mounted in wooden mount and frame as picture NT13520 above. Paper label on back FROST AND REED (as NT13520) but with No. 802 and date of 9/5/92. Centre back of etching large paper label printed - (Heading in red) BRISTOL CATHEDRAL (Text now in black) (As seen from south-western corner of Canons' Marsh)./ MESSRS. FROST AND REED have pleasure in announcing that / MR. CHAS. BIRD has executed for them an important original / Etching of this interesting subject, as seen from a point of view which / is little known, but which reveals the Cathedral's perfect picturesqueness / and beauty. / The Etching will measure 25 inches long by 17.5 inches high, and the issue will be limited / to the following states :- / The Artist's signed Proofs (Limited to 100 impressions) - £4 40 / These proofs will be numbered and allotted in rotation as the orders are received. / Lettered Impressions .....110 / this is the last of the series of important Old Bristol subjects intended to be / issued, making the set complete with: / 1.
