Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, Elizbeth Acton, Lady Throckmorton (d.1850) by James Holmes (Burslem 1777 – London 1860). 1829. Rectangular. Half-length portrait of a young woman, turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, her cheek resting on her left hand, wearing a white dress with red sash. Her left elbow leaning on a yellow shawl draped over her chair. Wearing gold bracelets, her light brown hair dressed on top with ringlets. A draped curtain is pulled back to the left, to reveal a stone wall with clouds and sky on the right. Signed and dated 1829.
