Summary
Covered cup and saucer, porcelain, the saucer with a deep profile and inset well, the cup with a short spreading foot, ogee shaped body and two scrolling handles with pronounced thumb spurs, the cover domed, Coalport, Coalbrookdale, ca 1830-50; the saucer, cup and cover each with applied floral encrustations in low and high relief, painted in naturalistic enamel colours, the porcelain also painted with floral sprays and insects, a ground pattern of stylised gilt willow trees to the cup and cover, with bands of plain gilding to the rims, with a pattern of interlocking C scrolls to the rim of the saucer, gilt details to the handles.
