Summary
Open robe - Petrol blue and cream brocade in design of corn stooks, flowers and fruit. Lining of coarse cotton to bodice and sleeves. Seamed at waist; bodice front plain, edge-to-edge closure; neckline oval at front, square at back. Back cut in one piece, extending at centre into skirt, with stitched-down pleats at waist. Elbow length sleeves with false turnback cuffs. Skirt of 7 widths of fabric, knife pleated all round. Handstitched construction, sleeves pieces. A fairly good copy of a late 18th century dress.
