Summary
One of two uniform epaulettes - Shoulder scales, epaulettes from the South Salopian Yeomanry. They are made from brass and lined with red napped wool. There are 5 scales across width and 8 across the length with fern frond running lengthways. They have a single button 'South S. Yeom' surmounted by a crown with 3 leopards heads in the centre. Shoulder scales were in use from 1834 as part of undress uniform. They were either plain or with badges of rank. (uniform)
