Summary
Military ornament; Gorget from an Officer in the infantry made from gilt with ornate letters 'GR' entwined in the centre surmounted by a crown with a spray of leaves either side. The gorget derived from the neck piece of a suit of armour and was suspended around the neck by a ribbon. They distinguished officers on duty and were discontinued in August 1830. (uniform)
