Summary
Cap; Shako for Other Ranks of Madras Light Cavalry made from black wool with a black drooping peak 56 mm (2.25 in) deep at centre. There is a white webbing trim round the top 35 mm (1.425 in) wide. There is a 20 mm (0.75 in) wide black patent leather strip round the base. The side ornaments are of brass, a rose with brass chin scales on leather backing. A vent either side consisting of a button with 7 small holes. Regimental insignia has a Maltese cross with circle in centre and monogram 'MLC' with a wreath of laurels round surmounted by the queen's crown. Brass plume holder centre front. (uniform)
