Summary
Cap; Shako of infantry bandsman made from black felt on card, lined with linen with the top lined with black paper reserving to newsprint 'The Mercury' Dec.28th (no year). It is bell topped and the top is leather covered. There is a wide cotton webbing around the top 44 mm (1.75 in) wide. There is a peak 50 mm (2 in) deep at the centre. The side ornaments are pewter - a lion's head (1 only). Pewter chin scales (1 remaining). Insignia on front in pewter, flags, a lion, trumpets, drums and cymbals with central escutcheon with the monogram ? 'GR'. There is a leather rosette on the webbing band. (uniform)
