Summary
Coat; Uniform coatee - A short tailed coatee of the Forfar Local Militia (Central Regiment). It is made of Union Jack red wool with bunting yellow facings. it is lined with glazed wool (possibly camlet) with cream cotton lining to the sleeves and cream wool twill skirts. It has a stand collar 100 mm (4in), long wide lapels neck to waist buttoned down. It is cut away and the sleeves have cuffs 95 mm (3.75 in) deep. There are pockets either side in the lining at breast level. There is some padding across the top of the breast and across the shoulders. Tackover centre back vent with stitched pleat either side. There are false vertical shaped pocket flaps. There are eyelet holes for the epaulettes and it fastens with 1 hook and eye below the collar. It is decorated with long stitched buttonholes on either side of the collar and for top 4 buttons on the lapels. There are false buttonholes on the pocket flaps. There are gilt buttons slightly domed with the king's crown on the front with a wreath of thistles enclosing the letters 'c' and 'FLM'. There are 9 down each front 1 on each side of the collar (both missing) 4 on each cuff, 4 on each pocket flap and 1 above each pleat. (uniform)
