Summary
Boy's coat made from a natal brown and cream dog's tooth check wool with a nutmeg cotton twill lining to the sleeves. It has a shawl collar. The foreparts are shaped and there are only 2 seams. There are decorative buttons trimming the coat in a military fashion. There is a waist seam and 3 inverted pleats at the centre back. The hem at the front has rounded edges, 2 pockets and fullish skirts. The sleeves are shaped and cut in 2 pieces. The waist and back seams are covered with braid. It is handstitched. There are 6 buttons (1 missing) and holes centre front,I button and hole on each sleeve, 2 sets of 12 buttons down the front and 2 buttons on the back waist seam. All buttons are conical, brass with Saunders back. (boy)
