Summary
Indoor cap - A close fitting white cotton, hand embroidered cap with open-work stripes of needle-weaving alternating with trails of eyelets flowers and satin-stitch leaves. The brim and crown have larger design of 3-lobed leaves with net frill. The seams are faggotted and piped and there are trimmings of Valenciennes lace. There is a fastening of cream silk ribbon. It is a possibility that the cap was made as a school exercise. (female)
Provenance
