Summary
Clarendon straw hat - The brim is made from 7 end plain plait with twisted head. The crown is made from knotted edge plait both using improved straw. It has a leather headband and crown lining of stiffened cotton net (see SNO.TC.1262). It is handstitched with waxed linen thread. There are the remains of brown/black silk hatband with a flat side bow. The makers mark is on the outside of the brim with a sailing ship and handwritten the name of the hat 'CLARENDON'. (male)
