Summary
Box; Hatbox - Part of a hat, box and drawing made from black beaver with a purple-brown silk lining with 'Rev W D Daniels' written on a card sewn into the lining. The hat box is a bicorne shaped box covered in paper over thin wood. The label on the front 'Andre, Hatter, No. 127 New Bond Street, London' with the Royal Coat of Arms. 'Rev'd W D Daniel' handwritten across the top of the box plus other words which have been crossed out. There is a pencil drawing of the Revd Daniel wearing the hat and on the reverse a house with two figures walking towards it and some almost indecipherable writting. Possibly the Circumfolding Dress Hat (Cunnington 'English Costume in the 19th century'). See SNO.TC.387/647-649/1282. (male)
