Summary
Hat made from string coloured silk grosgrain with a lining to the head and sides of cream silk. It is made from stiffened net with a wire to the brim and covered with pleated and looped grosgrain with a bow and streamers at the back. It is trimmed with a band of pleated rose satin ribbon on the underside of the brim. There are country flowers at the front - stiffened cotton and satin cornflowers and poppies with ears of wheat made from folded paper and horsehair. There are 2 cream ostrich feathers and a grey silk fringe on the streamers. It fastens with black elastic ties with a jet button weight. Cf. Nancy Bradfield 'Costume in Detail' pg.204 (female)
