Summary
Coat made from brown cotton velvet and lined with brown cotton twill with cream cotton lining to the sleeves. It is single breasted. It fastens with gilt buttons 'Made in England, Sword Make' with crossed swords (Buttons Ltd). There were 9 assorted buttons in the pocket SNO.TC.667 and a memorial card for Simon Thurlow 1817-1906. There is a purse belonging to Simon Thurlow SNO.TC.1375. (male) Charles Wade catalogue number A.24. 'Brown velveteen. Given me by old Sam Thurlow's widow. It was Sam's wedding coat and did service as his Sunday best until his death.' Given by Mrs Thurlow, Yoxford.
