Summary
Wrapper; Abayah - An abayah (wrapper) made from handspun handwoven heavy fabric- weft faced plain weave on cotton? warp. The weft is of wool/goat and camel hair. It is natural undyed white and brown in wide stripes with narrow white fringe in the centre of wide brown ones. There is simple embroidery at the neck and back in triangles and lines made from chain and feather stitch in white cotton. There are 3 rows of chain stitch and 3 to the centre of the garment on brown stripe. The seams at the shoulder and the centre are covered in broad chain stitch to give a cord effect in red cotton with small areas of yellow chevron pattern. A label inside in indelible pencil 'R H'.
