Summary
Coat; Pelisse - Woman's pelisse (coat) dating from 1820-30. Fabric - Camel coloured napped wool (possibly Fearnaught). Lining - Part lining now missing. Woollen felt interlining to collar. Cut - Full length, high waisted, overlapping front opening. Flared side seams. Shoulder seam set back. High stand collar. 4 capes, the longest elbow length, only the lower part of a cape stitched to the one above. Long, curved, set-in sleeves with turn back cuff. Arm slits with buttoned flaps. Straight, matching belt attached centre-back only. 3 velvet bars on outside of collar (for scarf to slot in to). Edges bound with buff colored silk ribbon. Outside of collar quilted to felt interlining for stiffening. Trimmings - Collar faced and edged with matching silk velvet. Fastenings - Concealed front fastenings. 6 cloth tabs and 1 bound buttonhole. Self-covered flat buttons. Velvet tab and button on collar. 3 buttons and bound buttonholes on each arm slit. 1 on belt.
