Summary
Shoulder cape - Part of a woman's cloak and shoulder cape dating from c1830. Fabric - Sable brown silk. Lining - lined throughout with calamine blue silk, except for yoke of cape (lined brown silk). Interlined 2 layers of cotton wadding with layer of brown silk between. Cloak yoke interlined with pink woollen fabric. Cut Full length cloak cut staright, pleated into curved yoke on shoulders. The pleats face centre-back. Arm slits with pointed flap. Large square flat collar with corners over back of shoulders. Waist length shoulder cape cut as cloak without arm slits or collar. Worn under collar of cloak. Piped edges. Fastenings - Drawstrings at neck of cloak. Large flat metal hook and eye on yoke to hem. Drawstring at neck on cape. Flat metal hook and eye on yoke.
