Summary
Shawl - Silk and wool twill and fine wool fillover. Cream ground. Design in stripes of large and small sprays of exotic flowers in pink, red, blue, green, yellow and black. Sewn on knotted fringe of thick twisted silk. 65inch (1650mm) square. On attached label. 'Shawl worn by Maria Julia Sellick at the wedding of her sister Anna to Capt. John Rose Ward about 1846.'
