Summary
Shawl border - Silk and wool twill with wool fillover. 2 inch (50mm) squares of Post Office red and parchment alternating. A trail of stems and leaves in blue, black, yellow and green comes from a rosette flower where the squares intersect. An 'epaulette flash' of blue with red dots in from the border on each square edge. 3.5 inch (89mm) x 36 inch (915mm). Possibly made after the battle of Waterloo, the design symbolishing 'the thin red line'.
