Summary
Pantaloons - Made of bottle green buckskin. Large fall; 1 fob pocket with opening at top edge at waistband; 4 inch (102 mm) split at leg openings. Large reinforcing patch sew on seat and reaching down to below knee level. Strip of fabric sewn inside length of waistband. 14 buttons originally covered with leather (3 missing; 2 replacement). Original buttons have written on them 'Walter, Paris'; 1 replacement has written on it 'Aux Quatre Nations, Paris', 1 has written on it 'Blum Freres Paris' - all gilt. Whole fall fastened with 1 button either side and 5 across top; buttons for braces (2 at front). Fastened under foot with leather sewn to inner side of leg and passing through 2 eyelet holes on outside leg. Possibly French.
