Summary
Petticoat - Made of pale grey silk, quilted with contrasting cotton thread. Lined with linen, fine brown and white check. Interlining cotton, wool or kapok. Front panel virtually straight, with 6 further gored panels; slightly trained (37 inches (940 mm front, 41 iches (1040mm back). Affixed is a matching waistband with 8 shallow pleats. There is a tape drawstring through the waistband, and a centre-back opening 9 inches (228 mm) long. Fabric quilted before assembly of garment, stitching through silk and interlining only; machine stitched. Crudely machine-quilted in a diaper pattern. Fastened with hook and eye of round brass wire at centre-back. (underwear)
