The 8 feet (2480 mm) of fabric is made up sideways, being extended at the upper edge with additional strips of fabric. The seams thorughout at lapped or run and fell. It is flat across the front and gathered at the back and is slightly trained. The hem is stiffened with a 10 inch (250 mm) band of linen. 12 inch (305 mm) side opening. Waistband and opening facings are of coarse braid. Fastened with a stout hook or square brass wire, with an eye of round brass wire.
