Summary
Dress petticoat - Made of orchid pink silk satin 455 mm (18 in) wide. Selvedge edge twilled with 1.5mm (0.0625 in) stripes of black, green, yellow and white. Unlined. Back panel straight, the front slightly gored, with 2 gored panels at each side. 177 mm (7 in) slits are left in the side seams at the waist. The 100 mm (4 in) centre-back opening is piped with a narrow cord. The 50 mm (2 in) hem is padded. Waist to hem measurement is 915 mm (36 in). The waist has a tape drawsetring running through a tape casing, making a three quarter inverted frill at the waist. Cut down to a modern waist pettitcoat from an underdress of the early 19th century.
