Summary
Third of a set of 6 sketch books by Charles Paget Wade. Donated by Richard Lupinacci, a resident of St. Kitts. The books were given to him by Mary Wade, wife of Charles, and were stored in a damp cellar for many years. The book is landscape format, covered in brown textile, with insect damage. Bookworm holes throughout. Yellow label inside front cover, printed: 'Whatman Sketch Book canvas cover (containing 30 leaves) Manufactured by Geo. Rowney & Co., artists' colourmen, and pencil makers, London, England' and handwritten 'C.P. Wade Elmsley, Yoxford, Suffolk' and 'Mary'. Contains pencil sketches and watercolours, some of which are annotated, from all over England, including Tewkesbury, Pershore and items from the South Kensington Museum. Most sketches dated 1904.
Provenance
Donated by Richard Lupinacci in August 2011 after discovery in St. Kitts. He was given them by Mary Wade (wife of Charles).
