Have you put your angel on the top of the tree yet? Unfortunately we can't put this beautiful wax angel at the top of the tree as we have to keep it at just the right temperature, otherwise it may just melt away.
Summary
Christmas tree decoration - Wax angel with golden wings. Charles Wade refers to this item in his notebook 'Days Far Away' (SNO.MISC.958) when he is discussing Grannies (Katherine Blanche Spencer nee Bulwer) Cantonese cabinet (SNO.F.23). 'The cabinet was filled with interesting old Family Treasures – these I loved to be shown and told about. There was a little wax angel, with golden wings, from a Christmas tree when granny was a child'. (Page 21)
Provenance
Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade. Previously owned by Charles Wade's grandmother Katherine Blanche Spencer nee Bulwer.
