Summary
Fan shaped hand fan with pierced bone handle and frame. Buffalo hide with pierced and gold and red painted decoration showing Javanese style puppet figure (cf. shadow puppet 1335638) within painted circle and leaves. Scalloped edge. In notebook no.4, page 50 (1340945.4) Charles Wade refers to: 'Seraphim 193. Four Fans of pierced and painted buffalo parchment with horn handles. KIPAS = fan.'
