Summary

Model - One of three scarab beetles carved in black stone with Egyptian hieroglyphs underneath.The cartouche of Ramesses II, a king of the Nineteenth Dynasty, c.1250 BC, but it is most probably a modern copy.

Provenance

Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
