Summary
Bosun's pipe or whistle in silver with engraved webb. Anchor on each side of barrel shaped sounder. Single hanging ring. Inscribed 'Y G APPLEBY Actg. Bosn H.M.S ALFRED'. On the reverse side, '1st of June 1794 ST. VINCENT 14 Feby 1797'. In notebook no.2, page 28 (1340945.2) Charles Wade refers to: 'Admiral 95.Bosn’s Pipe of silver. Inscribed YC APPLEBY Actg. Bos’n. H.M.S. ALFRED. 1st of June 1794 ST VINCENT, 14th July 1797.' Includes sketch.
