Summary
Model; Caravan from 'The Village Fair' set of models made by Charles Paget Wade for the Model Village (Wolf's Cove). Painted yellow body, turquoise spoke wheels and shafts, white roof with chimney and small double window each side with painted panes and purple curtains. Single window at the back. Roof extends over front driving position. Pail by the door and two carriage lamps. White stable door at the front - top section missing gives view of interior, which has a box bed at the back and benches. On the back, box section with sloping top and two small doors. Red tray slung underneath on chains. Brake chocks on chains. Black card with red text ‘Elizabeth Murray’ on canopy. Drawn by brown wooden horse with moulded harness and chains to attach to caravan on a wooden base. In notebook no.5, page 31 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Seventh Heaven no.13 A Village Fair 11 Models made by C P Wade. A Booth. Tarlay’s Waxworks. A Stall. Swing Boats. ‘Try your Strength’ Pole. Punch & Judy. Coconut Shy & Five Caravans. a Theatre with 3 Indian figures. The Caravans are fitted up inside with Bunks, Seats, Stove, Dresser etc. Shafts, Lamp & steps.' Includes sketches.
