Summary
Kaleidoscope, c.1866. ABW (Amy Blanche Wade, Charles Paget Wade's Mother), made of tin on a turned wooden stand, wooden mount to eyepiece with separate cover, damaged. Inside the tube there is a crude construction of wood and cardboard, and at the end a rotating metal container with little handles with a translucent glass end, inside which are pieces of coloured glass which move as the end is rotated. On base is a sticky label: ‘Kaleidescope invented by Brewster 1815’. In notebook no.5, page 56 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Seventh Heaven no.192 Kaleidescope c.1866 ABW' Includes sketch with dimensions.
