Summary
Model brougham carriage made of tin, lower part painted rifle green, upper part black, with yellow wheels and undercarriage. With the Bulwer coat of arms on the doors. Door handles operate catches – doors open. Black step each side. Blue interior. Lamp holders each side above driver’s seat. Seat covered with canvas. Loose piece of felt on footboard. One side window glazed with painted border.(A brougham is a closed carriage with a driver perched outside on the front.). In notebook no.5, page 35 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Seventh Heaven no.47 Another Brougham of Tin painted “Rifle green” & black, with the arms of Bulwer. “gules on a chevron arg.”3 cinqfoils sa: between 3 eaglets or: The Brougham was first built in 1838 under the personal direction of Lord Chancellor Brougham.'
