Summary
Mahogany mile wheel (waywiser) with wooden fork and cased dial. Glass cover of dial has catch and hinge to allow it to open. Brass knurled knob on one side. Wooden handlebar. Measures yards, poles, furlongs and miles. on the dial: 'C. W. Dixey, Optician to the Queen, 30 Bond Street, London.' In notebook no.5, page 115 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Large Garret no.94 Mile wheel similar to above, of mahogany made by C.W. DIXEY, new Bond Street 31".'
