Summary
Model of a Glamorgan County farm wagon on four wheels. Bow body. Solid barge rails projected over wheels extend beyond the body front and rear. Shafts, painted red, have iron slider bars and chains attached to front axle. Brake chains and brake chocks. In notebook no.5, page 83 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'The Large Garret Land Transport MODELS Country Wagons, built by H.R. Waiting of Boxwood, painted by C.P.W. scale 1½" = 1ft all constructed as the actual wagon, with Real tenons & every bolt & detail is carefully shown. Full details & specification of each is in the Snowshill Chest in the Gallery Room. no.18 Glamorgan Blue. The only one with chains for leading horse attached to axle. a good arrangement.' 'The skill of the Country Wheelwright is well shown in the set of model wains, made for me so perfectly by Mr. H. R. WAITING. This collection of models will be a valuable record in days to come, as the Wheelwrights craft is now a dead art.
