Summary
Model of Surrey copse barrow. Single wheel at front painted red, held between two shafts, painted blue, which become the handles at the other end (like a wheelbarrow). Two curved verticals each side, also painted blue, to hold short logs across the barrow. In notebook no.5, page 113 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Large Garret no.105 Model of an old Copse Barrow as used in the Surrey woods to carry cleft stakes for sheep folds to the rough cart tracks. The 'crooks' often made of chestnut. Model of box by H. R. Waiting. Scale 1½" to a foot. Wheel red, frame blue.' Includes sketch.
