Summary
Model of eight oared double banked boat with only four oars present. Fitted with detachable sailing thwart, and painted white with blue gunwhale. Painted vermillion inside and with rolled cotton sail. Four old pattern oars with square loom, painted red. Detachable rudder and tiller. In notebook no.2, page ? (1340945.2) Charles Wade refers to: 'Admiral 278. Model of eight oared double banked boat' fitted with 'Sailing Thwart' or Gangway Board, with blue gunwale, verrnillion inside. Old pattern oars with square boom worked with grommets on through pins. The boat has a good sheet and a raking transom stern.'. Includes sketch.
