Summary
Bicycle - Velocipede, a primitive machine made entirely from iron, frame and wheels, and painted black. Made by Chipping Campden blacksmith. Padded (cloth-covered) seat and string brake working on front wheel. Wooden grips and pedals. In notebook no.5, page 102 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Large garret no.75 Primitive bicycle all made of iron by the Chipping Campden blacksmith. It is very heavy.' Sketch alongside.
