Summary
Bicycle; Velocipede - wooden framed with wooden chamfered forks and padded striped cloth covered saddle. No braking system. All painted blue-green. In notebook no.5, page 99 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Large garret no.64A A very early bicycle, the first step from the hobby horse. Still has the wooden frame. Fork is formed from heavy timbers chamfered in the manner of the wheelwright. When found it was painted pied red white & blue so coloured for a village fete. Now painted a blue green. From Wymondham, Norfolk June 1946.' Sketch alongside. Added in pencil: 'handlebars have been changed for spares 1976'. In Gloucester Records Office (1342628 ref. D10423/Box 7/172), letter acknowledging receipt of a cheque for £10 for a bicycle from A. Standley and Son, Market Place, Wymondham Dated 13th June 1946.
