Summary
Coach builder's sample model of a Blessington coach, c.1830. The body, slung by straps to 'C' springs, is painted blue with a coat of arms by Charles Wade. Upper part black. Chassis and wheels painted red. Wheels wooden with metal tyres. No detail in interior. Detachable front lamps. Blue material cover for driver’s box. Red under frame and wheels. Velvet seat cover. In notebook no.5, page 94 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Large garret no.98 Coach builder's model of a Cabriolet. The body is slung by straps to 'C' springs (at a later date bow(?) under springs were added to the 'C' springs). c.1830 Scale 3" to 1 foot'. Sketch with dimensions. Pencil notes have been added: 'Blessington Coach restored 1974.'
