From notebook no.5, page 112 (SNO.MISC.959.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Large garret no.101 The Bath House Fly Gt. Yarmouth 1818 1 1/2" scale model of the original which was kept in the Toll House, destroyed in an air raid. From PRESTON’S “Picture of YARMOUTH”. 1819. p.11. A Naval carriage, called THE FLY has been very lately introduced for the purpose of conveying Ladies to and from the BATH HOUSE. It carries Two inside passengers and is in every respect like a Coach, being fixed on steel springs and having four wheels, but is drawn by Two men instead of Horses. The Regulated Fares for each person are – S. D. From Fullers Hill to the Town Hall 1. 0 Friar’s Lane to do 1. 0 Fullers Hill to Concert Room 1. 6 Bath House to Chapel St (King St) 1. 0 Do: to Regent St. Quay or S. of Market 1. 6 Further Distance than above, within the Walls 2. 0 North to South Gate 2. 0 If Kept Waiting for every half hour 1. 0 Two persons going from any part of the Town to the Monument. (Nelson) and stopping only to view the same, to pay full fare out and half fare back. Orders are Received at the BATH HOUSE and at Mr Alexanders, King St. and is considered to be a very safe and accommodating conveyance. It was painted Black and Canary Yellow – Was not long in use. LADY HAMILTON arrived at the foot of this Jetty in one. The BATH HOUSE, later HOTEL stood on this Drive close to the Jetty. Built 1759 for Baths, but soon became an Inn – Ball Room added 1788.
