Summary
Four wheeled childs cart with rounded bottom. Flat shoulder ledges at both ends. Blue and red livery. Wheels have metal rims. Leather strap suspension. In notebook no.5, page 88 (1340945.5) Charles Wade refers to: 'Large Garret no. 37 Child's carriage or Chaise. Body slung on straps to 'C' springs, the wheel track is set very wide for safety. Painted red inside. Blue outside, red wheels. fr. Donnington Suffolk'. There is a sketch alongside with date 1820. Charles Wade refers to the origins of this cart in his notebook Haphazard Notes Volume 2. 'From a cottage garden at DENNINGTON SUFFOLK came the red & blue child’s cart, slung on straps to ‘C’ springs. It was filled with ferns! [GARRET 37]' (page 35)
